Meet the founders of Mobile — Iberville, Bienville, De Tonti, and De Graaf — along with the city’s “Founding Mothers,” the Pelican Girls. Through lively conversations and interactive demonstrations, discover what life was really like in colonial Mobile and how these early settlers helped shape our city’s history. This year the Corn Festival is celebrating it's 10 year anniversary and American is recognizing it's semiquincentennial so we're combining the two for a day of fun. The Corny Dad Cook-Off returns with three cooks, who also happen to be dads, creating a signature corn dish. The public gets to taste each one and vote for their favorite. Each voting ticket comes with a free miniature American flag. The corn-eating contest has a special twist. Contestants will eat 2 ears of white corn, 5 slices of red watermelon, and a cup of blueberries. This year awards will be given for both an adult division and a children's division.

The Grand Bay Watermelon Festival will be a day and a half of fun, located at 10327 Taylor F. Harper Blvd., Grand Bay, AL! The gates will open to the public from 3 pm until 7 pm on July 3rd. Gate entrance/parking on July 3rd is free. We will have Music, Rides, Food Vendors, and Arts & Crafts Vendors, but NO WATERMELON on the 3rd.Grand Bay Watermelon Festival Programs will also be available for purchase on July 3rd for $5, which you can show at the gate on July 4th for your vehicle admission. Festival T-shirts will also be for sale.July 4th - Gate admission is just $5 per vehicle for parking at the entrance gate. Times and groups the Gates will be open on July 4th: Vendors and Car Show entrants - from 8 am; General Public - 9:30 am. Festival Vendors (except Food Vendors) will close at 5 pm and all patrons must be out of the roadways so vendors can get back to their booths at 5 pm.We plan to have fireworks again this year at dusk. If you leave the park and come back, just show your program to get back in the gate. Otherwise, Gate admission is $5 per vehicle at the entrance gate. Parking will be around the baseball field. Join the History Museum of Mobile and Colonial Fort Condé on Sunday, July 5, 2026, for a special celebration of American history featuring a Revolutionary War reenactment and the opening of a 50-year-old time capsule. At 4:00 p.m., experience The Capture of Captain James Willing, Colonial Fort Condé's annual Independence Day living history program. Watch as interpreters bring to life the story of Captain James Willing, a Continental Navy officer whose actions brought the American Revolution to British-occupied Mobile. The program includes a full reading of the Declaration of Independence, live musket demonstrations, period clothing, and audience interaction. Then at 5:00 p.m., witness history as the 1976 Colonial Fort Condé Time Capsule is opened for the first time in 50 years. Buried during America's Bicentennial celebrations, the capsule will be opened in honor of America250 and the 50th anniversary of the reconstructed Colonial Fort Condé.
