Laissez les bons temps rouler! Roll into the Exploreum and celebrate the Mardi Gras season with us at our Krewe of Young Explorers Mardi Gras ball. From colorful science experiments, exciting music, dancing, and Mardi Gras throws galore, this is a celebration you won’t want to miss. Located in the heart of Downtown Mobile, the Mardi Gras ball revelers will be in the perfect spot to catch the parade that rolls right by our building! We will have VIP stroller/cart parking in our Courtyard for families that wish to partake in the Mardi Gras fun starting with the Floral Parade at 12pm. The party is from 9:00am to 2:00pm on March 1st, 2025. There will be thrilling STEAM experiments and activities all throughout the building, as well as traditional Mardi Gras festivities including mask making, enjoying delicious treats, and parading around the Exploreum! Holly Jolly Snowcones will be set up out front for some tasty treats so make sure to check them out as well! We will have a special showing of Disney’s Princess and the Frog in our PCI Digital Dome Theater at 9:30am. Seats are first come first served for the film. The festive celebration will feature something for all to enjoy — even your furry friends. So come early with the krewe to kick-off the night with our rockin' DJ and kids' activities including pony rides, bouncy houses, rock wall and more. Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival
For over 70 years, our flower-lined streets have proudly hosted the Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival which takes place every third weekend in March. While it has grown and evolved throughout the years, it remains a familiar family tradition for so many. During this three-day event, our population of 25,000 swells to nearly 300,000 as our downtown streets come alive with creativity, showcasing the best in art, food, and entertainment in our blossoming community, full of southern charm. The Fairhope Arts and Crafts has made a consistent appearance in the top 20 of the Sunshine Artist 200 Best and was ranked number 15 in the latest 200 Best in the Fine Arts and Design. The 73rd festival theme is "Paint the Town" and we mean that literally. The festival is unveiling something truly unique — a mural that will be created downtown, celebrating the festival and honoring its 70+ year tradition. The mural will be located adjacent to the Fairhope Welcome Center on Section Street. Our featured artist Hannah Legg will begin work on the mural in early March, with plans to do some live painting during the festival, allowing visitors to experience the creation process firsthand.

The annual Craft & Yard Sale at the DI Campground will be held on Saturday, March 15 from 9am-noon and all are invited to attend. Rubber Ducky Regatta at OWA
The Rubber Ducky Regatta is back for a second year at OWA Parks & Resort! On March 22, up to 10,000 adopted rubber ducks will be dropped into the lake in Downtown OWA and will race to the finish line. The owner of the fastest ducks will win some great prize packages, including two season passes to Tropic Falls at OWA and a cruise for two aboard a Carnival cruise ship for 1st place. 2nd place will win a Family 4-Pack of Tropic Falls general admission tickets and a $1,000 Rouses Market gift card, and 3rd place will get two Tropic Falls general admission tickets and a one-year membership to Rich’s Car Wash. All proceeds from the event will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mobile, which provides a home away from home for families with seriously ill and injured children being treated at area hospitals. The fun kicks off at 11 a.m. with duck adoptions, free face painting, train rides, DJ Patrick at the Island Stage, and a Children’s Bounce City sponsored by Toys Under Twenty. Purchase an all-day wristband for $10 (4 pack for $30) to bounce and play in the festival grounds. New this year is the Jeep show and decorating contest. The theme for the Jeep decorating contest is “Superheroes” in recognition of the heroic strength displayed by hospitalized children and their families. At 12 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m., there will be a free cooking demo in the festival grounds sponsored by Towne Tap. Stop by and learn how to make an easy meal that would be served at RMHC to help feed their families. At 1:00 p.m. make your way to the OWA Island Stage for round 1 of House vs. House, where representatives from OWA and Ronald McDonald House will challenge each other in a game of Family Feud. Throughout the day, participants and spectators can also purchase “Chance to Win” tickets for great prizes, such as OWA and McDonald’s swag, gift cards for kid’s games in Downtown OWA, and items from local businesses will be raffled off. As a thank you to our valued healthcare professionals, OWA will be offering 50% off a Tropic Falls General Admission ticket, with proof of healthcare employment ID (*One ticket per ID available in person. March22nd only). At 4 p.m. the Regatta begins! The duck race will start at OWA Lake, where guests will be able to see their duck race to the finish line and winners will be announced.

Diaper Distribution Drive-Thru
The Junior League of Mobile (JLM) announces its Diaper Bank Distribution Drive-thru event, occurring Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Junior League of Mobile headquarters located at 57 North Sage Avenue in Mobile, AL. This event is free to the public. JLM’s Diaper Distribution Drive-thru event will provide diapers to the community at no charge. Recipients can drive through the JLM headquarters parking lot to receive a bundle of diapers. Volunteers will grant one package per car. JLM will distribute a range of diaper sizes. The event lasts until 12 p.m. or until diapers inventory is distributed. JLM is a member of the National Diaper Bank Network, and the only diaper bank in Mobile participating in this national affiliate program. The JLM Diaper Bank program puts 55,000 to 75,000 diapers into the community on average annually, addressing a critical need for local families. JLM distributes diapers through several community partners, many of which will be on site at the drive-thru event. These partners help distribute diapers and also offer other critical needs for families such as food and pantry help, counseling, and other care services.

Mobile Ballet is excited to be bringing THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG back to the Saenger stage on March 29 & 30! Guest artists KAYLIN WILSON and KRIS NOBLES will perform along with the Mobile Ballet Company, with SYMONE FRENCH singing live! Katia Garza’s unique adaptation of The Princess and the Frog is created just for Mobile, with breathtaking choreography and visuals. The story follows a hardworking young waitress named Tiana who is an aspiring chef and dreams of opening her own restaurant. Her dream takes a little detour when she meets Prince Naveen, who has been turned into a frog by an evil Dr. Facilier.
