Join local artist, Shoshana Brand, on May 16 for a hands-on Nature Journaling workshop! Geared towards individuals and families alike (ages 11 and up), the workshop will be conducted outdoors in the beautiful Gardens and concentrate on movement in space, nature observation, and documentation. In this workshop, students will become explorer artists and will use a variety of artistic tools to create a deep connection with nature, art, and themselves. Bring your colored pencils and comfortable shoes, and fall in love with nature through unique and fun exercises throughout our Garden. The nature journal is included in the price, a great item to keep with you for all your future outdoor activities. Gulf State Park is hosting its first ever Venture Out event on May 15-17. This three-day festival will feature a variety of nature and outdoor-focused activities, workshops, and tours throughout the park and along the Backcountry Trail. Try out adaptive cycling during Venture Out Weekend at Gulf State Park! We will have a variety of adaptive bikes for youth and adults to try out and take for a ride on the trail. Already have your own bike? Bring it and join us to help celebrate the trail! You can also sign up or log your miles for the free 100 Alabama Miles Challenge program and grab a T-shirt! Lakeshore Foundation will provide adaptive bikes, helmets, and safety flags for youth and adults to try and ride. Available bikes will include hand cycles and recumbent trikes for adults and youth.
