We’ve teamed up with our friends at the History Museum of Mobile to bring the wonders of the cosmos to life through a hands-on space mosaic craft. Did you know that Galileo was the first to see the Moon’s craters and the moons of Jupiter? He changed the way we see the universe forever, and now it’s your turn! Using a galaxy of colorful paper materials, you can "map the stars" just like a Renaissance scientist. Whether you're recreating the rugged surface of the Moon or the swirling colors of a distant planet, your masterpiece is waiting to be built. It’s the perfect way to dive into our newest Galileo exhibit through art, history, and a whole lot of creativity! Mobile Botanical GardensGet outside and bring the whole family to the Garden for interactive activities for all ages. Plant herb or flower seeds using a grow kit, build with LEGOs, and use a new scavenger hunt to explore the gardens. Return your complete scavenger hunt for a fun surprise! 16th Annual Mobile Chocolate Festival
The GroundsThe 16th Annual Mobile Chocolate is a wonderful, one day family fun event! There will be vendors offering samples of their chocolate-related products as well as selling their products. Vendors vary from having chocolate-themed wares to succulent confections to jewelry to bath and body products. Free activities featured: Children’s Area with Home Depot wooden builds/ jumpies/face painting, Mobile Fixture’s “Decorate Your Apron” Booth, Cupcake Booth, Chocolate Martini tasting, Fishing Booth, and Magic Memories Photo Booth; enjoy live music, Chocolate Challenge featuring professionals, amateurs, and youth divisions; Project Yum Way where students and aspiring designers participate in a fashion display of chocolate inspired fashions made from chocolate candy wrappers; Cruise-In, and the Easter Egg Scramble! Admission is free for children 3 & under; General admission $10.00/ $5.00 for children 4-12; tickets available soon! The event is 10am-3pm at The Grounds.
Ballyhoo Festival of Fine Arts & Culture
Gulf State Park-AlabamaThe Ballyhoo Fine Art & Culture Festival will kick it off at the beautiful Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8. The Ballyhoo Festival is a juried fine art festival displaying 110 artists nationwide. The festival features the Poarch Creek Indians, the culture of Early Americana Appalachian music in the form of a fiddle/banjo competition, and so much more! Live music, food trucks, and the beauty of the Alabama Gulf Coast make the Ballyhoo Festival a must-attend during festival season. There will be shuttles available at the Gulf State Pier, Gulf State Pavilion and Gulf Shores High School to take patrons to the festival. Handicapped parking will be inside the festival site. Through the "story within a story" of Raymond Signs, Raymond becomes a modern day, mountain dwelling "Ms. Frizzle." As he guides the children through the pages of the magazine, he reveals the American Sign Language sign for every creature, from the smallest bunny to the legendary Bigfoot. This isn't just a book; it’s a bridge of communication. Invented by the imaginative minds of Jimmy Byrge and Patricia Riley, Raymond Signs invites families of all ages from 1 to 100 to embrace ASL as a second language and find the magic in every gesture. Patricia Riley Patricia Riley, President of Riley’s Productions LLC, has her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Arts and Children’s Theater from California Baptist University. Patricia Riley was Deaf as a child and did not receive her hearing until sixth grade. She has a passion for the Deaf/ Hard of Hearing children and the Deaf community because she was one of these children, one of the forgotten few. Patricia Riley Was Executive Producer and stared in “The Better Half Feature Film” as Sam the mime. She has appeared in a variety of TV shows including “CSI Las Vegas,” “Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” “America’s Court," and “Millionaire Matchmaker.” Patricia Riley has been performing and teaching Improv, Mime technique and movement in the San Diego and Los Angels area for many years; bringing informed regard to the public for the betterment of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and communication-challenged children and their families. Patricia Riley is the Founder of “Don’t Be A Sap... It’s A Booby Trap” a 501c3 Non-profit, continues to bring awareness to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities all over the nation.
