Make Your Own Telescope Workshop for Kids

Kids will go on a guided tour of the Hubble Space Telescope: New Views From the Universe exhibit, learn about the history and science of telescopes including the Hubble and James Webb space telescopes, then make their very own working telescope. Veggie Kids-Fall Edition

The Mobile Botanical Gardens is happy to announce a multi-week program to answer those questions with a series of Saturday morning workshops for children, ages 8-12. Participants will explore what foods come from plants, what plants need to grow, and the work of farmers to bring good fruits and vegetables to our dining tables. From Dirt Day and Grocery Store Botany to harvest, young gardeners will plant and maintain their own raised bed ‘farms’ at MBG’s Magnolia Hill. Down the Bay History Day

Join us for our third celebration of Down the Bay history! We'll be sharing interviews from the Down the Bay Oral History Project, historic photos of Down the Bay from the McCall Library archives, and artifacts from the I-10 Mobile River Bridge Archaeology Project. Browse displays about different themes from Down the Bay History, connect with friends, and share your memories of the neighborhood. Lunch will be provided. This event is free and open to the public. Open House on Free Sunday

The History Museum of Mobile welcomes you to our annual Open House. Featuring pop-up histories, behind-the-scenes tours, and more! Learn about some of the special artifacts on display in our exhibits with 5-minute Pop-Up Histories given by staff members. Colonial Fort Conde will also be free to visit, and staff will host living history demonstrations there throughout the day. Museum staff will be set up for an inside look at what we do at the museum. The Collections department will be doing special behind-the-scenes tours of our collection on a first come, first-served basis. Tickets are now SOLD OUT for the behind-the-scenes tours, but all are welcome at Open House!

Living History Festival

Experience the 18th century at Colonial Fort Condé as history is brought to life through the demonstration of everyday activities of Mobile’s past. How did they do their laundry? Did they really use a feather to write with? What money did they use? Did they bathe? Find out these answers and many more when you visit on November 11th! In addition to stations teaching about daily life, there will also be musket and sword fighting demonstrations every hour as well as our local chapter of the Society of American Period Furniture Makers.
