Mobile Museum of ArtKick off the Mardi Season with MMofA at our Family Mardi Gras Day on January 13. 1-5 p.m. Join our education team for a variety of art-making activities including mask-making and creating floats out of shoeboxes. We’ll also have second line dancing with Gloria Petit Williams and live music. Finally, stop by Lil Donut Factory for a tasty treat. Admission to the Museum will be free all day in addition to the afternoon activities.

King Cake Off 2024

Join us for the 6th annual King Cake-Off on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the Mobile Civic Center Expo Hall, located in the heart of downtown Mobile. Local bakeries, eateries, and grocery stores will compete to see who has the tastiest King Cake and King Cake-Inspired Treat on the Gulf Coast. This family-friendly event will feature live music, local vendors, kids' activities, King Cake tastings, and more! You definitely don't want to miss out on this tasty, one-of-a-kind event! This event, presented by PNC Bank, benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Gulf Coast, and all contributions will go directly to support their mission—to give our children a caring and supportive adult mentor who will guide them to success, hold them accountable, and set their lives in a direction they never thought possible. Meaher State ParkJoin us at Meaher State Park for a fun morning of fishing with our naturalist! Bait will be provided, and we will have a few extra fishing poles for folks to use. Please bring your personal poles if you have them, as we will not have enough extras for everyone. Kids 15 and under do not need a fishing license, but anyone 16+ wishing to take part must have a freshwater fishing license. These can be purchased at www.outdooralabama.com *Be weather aware!* Any updates and changes to the event will be posted on our Facebook page. What to bring: water, snacks, sunglasses, weather appropriate clothing, and a fishing pole and tackle if you have them. The Mystic Krewe of Salty Paws will hold its annual parade starting at the Water Tower on Saturday, January 27, 2024! This event is being sponsored by the Dauphin Island Chamber of Commerce and is a fundraiser for the Animal Rescue Foundation. The pirate theme this year will be “Mythical Creatures and Other Fantastic Beasts”. Prizes will be awarded for Best Group, Most Creative, and Best Cart. We can't wait to see all our creatures! Follow our event page for updates! Cost will be $15.00 per person and pet. Additional people in your group will be $15.00 per person. Children ages 13 and under are free to walk in the parade and all pets and children must be accompanied by an adult. No bicycles allowed, but strollers or wagons are permitted. Golf carts are allowed, but will be placed in a group by the organizers. You will be allowed to throw beads, pet toys, stuffed animals and pet treats, but NO CANDY PLEASE! A pet release and waiver will be posted and anyone registered for the event will be acknowledging the terms and conditions. Get creative, dress up yourself, pets and wagons and join us for this worthwhile cause! Check out our map with parade route, parking and spectator areas! The parade will start in front of the water tower and head north on LeMoyne, right on Chaumont, right on Key, right on Bienville and end back at the water tower. The distance is 6/10th of a mile. Registration will begin at 9:00 am. Pre-registration is encouraged but onsite registration is available! Parade begins promptly at 10:00 am. Costume contest immediately following the parade! Salty Paws Pet Parade Rules and Waiver All animal owners must follow all posted parade rules. Please remember all pets must meet all guidelines and maintain current vaccinations (Rabies with tag number, DHLPP and Bordetella). Pet Rules: 1. All animal parade walkers must be pre-registered on the Eventbrite page or registered day of event on site. Each person in the parade must have an armband to participate. 2. Children accompanying pet owners must be supervised. 3. All pets must remain on a leash at all times and owner must remain with pet. 4. Aggressive dogs and female dogs in heat are not allowed. Owners must remove dogs from the event at the first sign of aggressive behavior. 5. Owners must dispose of waste properly in the designated on-site containers. 6. Only beads, animal toys and animal treats may be thrown during the parade. No candy!7. Owners are liable for any injury or damage caused by their pet and are fully responsible for their pet's actions. 8. We want this to be a fun event with many more to follow and we look forward to meeting your beloved pets! By entering this event, you are indicating that you have read and understand the rules of this pet parade/event. You will not hold any person or organization responsible for the actions of your pet. You are liable for all damage and/or injury caused by your animal. There is no rain date for this event. Your registration fee is considered a donation to the Animal Rescue Foundation.
