Back 2 School Bash
Mardi Gras ParkCan you all believe that the Summer is almost over, and it is time for the kiddos to return to the schoolhouse? The first day of school is Monday, August 11 so allow MPRD to usher you into a prosperous school year at our Back 2 School Bash! Make plans to join us at Mardi Gras Park on Saturday, August 9 from 10-2 for an exciting morning of community fun! Jam to the sounds of DJ Blaze, enjoy inflatables from South Alabama Inflatables, and hit a two-step to your favorite line dance tunes! We will also have installations from the Alabama National Guard, and WKRG News 5 will be present as our official news partner, so be sure to look for their tent as well! And of course, no Back 2 School Bash is complete without free school supply giveaways! Plus, there will also be free food while it lasts! Residents of Mobile County (AL), Baldwin County (AL), Jackson County (MS), and George County (MS) will receive free admission to the Gardens. Little Park Pals: Pirate Adventure
Gulf State Park Nature CenterGrab your young nature enthusiast and join us for hands-on family fun! Our Little Park Pals programs consist of an educational animal encounter and a hands-on activity or craft, with our younger Park guests in mind. Best suited for children ages 4-10. Parents must be present. Pirate Adventures is a fun and interactive program for children that combines history, creativity, and adventure! Kids will learn about the pirates who once sailed the Gulf Coast, create their own pirate gear through a hands-on craft activity, and embark on an exciting treasure hunt. Saturday, August 9th we’ll have Rascal and Badge the Higbee Farm ponies to pet, we’ll make a wood pencil name tag for your backpack and tissue flower for your teacher!! The Core Project will be here to olay games with the kids and we will have some vendors selling cute back to school gift items to get that special teacher. Just look at how cute one of our Granny Pryor Poundcake slices looks all dolled up with ribbon and a tag!! We’ll have bags, tissue, ribbon and tags available at the market to wrap your treats. save the date!!

Dauphin Island Community CenterJoin us for an Island Luau - August 9 at the DI Community Center from 6-9PM. Live music by the Salt Shakers (A Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band) and performances throughout the evening by professional Hula Dancers. Hula Lessons at 6:30PM to the Lilo & Stitch song and at 8PM to a Traditional Hawaiian Dance. Admission is $20 in advance for Aults and $25 at the door. For ages 15 & younger the price is $10. An Island dinner and desserts are provided. Coolers are welcome.
