Survival Principles for Kids Programming Series

Blakeley State Park

During this special series of programs, children will be introduced to a few of the most basic survival principles that could mean life or death in the unfortunate event they became lost or separated from adults in the outdoors. They will also get a chance to meet some of the specially-trained dogs which assist professional rescue teams in our area in locating lost or injured individuals in wilderness settings. Complimentary with regular park admission. The program takes place at the Old House Site.

An Evening with Dad Company: An Improv Show at SHC

Come to the Arlene Mitchell Theatre on the campus of Spring Hill College at 7pm on Saturday, August 23 for an evening with Dad Company, Mobile's 2025 Nappie Award winner for Best Local Comedian(s)! Watch as the four fathers of improv (Barney, Chip, Lesley and Steven) turn audience suggestions into full one-act comedic plays right on the spot. The characters, dialogue and plot are completely improvised, making for a hilarious, unique show that will literally never happen again! Tickets are $10 per person, available only at the door. Woolford Charitable Trust. Join us on Thursday mornings beginning at 10:30 am in various locations throughout MBG’s 106 acres to enjoy preschool storytime together. MBG Docents will read aloud specially selected stories and lead nature-based activities perfect for preschoolers. Parents and children alike will learn and have fun in our gorgeous garden setting. Learn the story of Fort Mims! Duration 1 Hour About This one-hour excursion showcases several sites associated with the story of the Fort Mims area, including homesteads, ferry crossings, and the Old Federal Road. Very young children are allowed, but parents need to bring life vests for children under four years of age; the Coast Guard cannot guarantee the boat's life rings will fit toddlers. Sorry, no pets allowed.
