Join us to celebrate Black History Month with a free, community-focused museum day filled with culture and creativity on Saturday, February 28! From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mobile Museum of Art, this celebration will feature spoken poetry by Huggy Bear da Poet (Alex Lofton), cultural performances by the Africatown Drummers, screenings of The League, local vendors and food trucks, free museum admission, and interactive experiences highlighting Black creativity and storytelling. Children can also enjoy a children’s craft station in the museum’s kids’ space and a reading corner hosted by Gulf Regional Early Childhood Services.

We’ve teamed up with our friends at the History Museum of Mobile to bring the wonders of the cosmos to life through a hands-on space mosaic craft. Did you know that Galileo was the first to see the Moon’s craters and the moons of Jupiter? He changed the way we see the universe forever, and now it’s your turn! Using a galaxy of colorful paper materials, you can "map the stars" just like a Renaissance scientist. Whether you're recreating the rugged surface of the Moon or the swirling colors of a distant planet, your masterpiece is waiting to be built.
