Empty the Shelter Event and Volunteer Dog Walk

Help us empty the shelter by adopting or fostering a pet during 4th of July weekend! Walk-ins are welcome from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Friday, July 4 through Sunday, July 6. Adoption fees will be waived for approved applicants.  Plus, celebrate Independence Day at our volunteer dog walk on Friday, July 4! Participants will complete a volunteer application at the shelter. The walk will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 1 p.m.

Join us on July 4, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. to celebrate Independence Day at USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park. This free, family-friendly event offers delicious food from various food trucks, interactive games and activities, live music by Tip Tops and Fly By Radio, and FIREWORKS! Come create lasting memories as we celebrate our nation's independence. Pop-Up Park and Block Party

Join us for our first Pop-up Park & Block Party at Marjorie Snook Park, located behind City Hall! Pop-Up Parks are designed to bring awareness to underutilized green spaces throughout our City. Live music will be provided by the Funky Lampshades-so bring your comfy chairs or blankets to sit. The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber will be selling beverages for ALL ages and Sugar Love food truck will be on-site for dinner! The Orange Beach History Museum will have extended hours until 8:30 p.m., so stop in and check them out! What's a park without a little competition? We'll hold our first annual hot-dog eating competition, for ages 18 and up, during intermission. Grand Prize winner gets lots of cool prizes, plus a year's free membership to the Orange Beach Fitness Center! The Orange Beach Fire Department will be using their water truck to keep the kids cool and a water-feature inflatable will be provided-so make sure the kiddos bring a towel and change of clothes! Golf cart use is encouraged and designated cart parking will be in the grass lot in front of Fire Station 1.

We had to take a rain check for our originally scheduled program, so let's try this again, shall we! Get ready (AGAIN) for our first  Dive-In Movie of the Summer, hosted by the MPRD Aquatics Department!  Grab your towels and donut floaties, and meet us at Dotch Community Center Pool on Saturday, July 12 for the showing of the hit film, Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The Dotch Community Center Pool will close at 5:00 p.m. on that Saturday evening and re-open for Dive-in guests at 6:30 p.m.  The movie will begin promptly at sundown. Until then, enjoy exciting Sonic-themed pool games  and snacks from our featured food trucks!  Small beach chairs and mini-coolers are welcome. No glass bottles are permitted in the pool area. Looking forward to seeing you all there! It is going to be a great time!
