If you are looking for a way to get out of the house this summer, storytimes are a great way to entertain your kids as well as beat the heat! They are also a great way to meet other parents! Below you will find a list of storytimes happening in the Mobile, Alabama area this summer.

Renascent Church Sensory Storytime

Thursday, June 13 & Thursday, July 11.

This story time is a welcoming, interactive environment specifically designed for special, sensory processing kids. Join us for an interactive story, songs that will not overstimulate, and play time for exploration and social . skills Designed for ages 2-5 (but not limited to) and their families. 😇

Reading on the Ramp at Dauphin Island Welcome Center Library

Every Wednesday in June from 9:30 -10:30

Our Welcome Center Library’s “Reading on the Ramp” summer reading initiative for children has declared June Dr. Seuss month! Please join us on Wednesday mornings in June at 9:30am at the Welcome Center to enjoy Dr. Seuss stories and an art project. Bring your favorite beach towel to sit on and be ready to laugh and learn! While our target audience is pre-school thru 3rd grade, all children are welcome!

Mobile Public Library Summer Reading Challenge

Join the summer reading challenge!

Read 400 minutes this summer to receive a prize and entries into the Grand Prize drawings for a camping equipment bundle and family movie ticket packs! Keep reading to get more entries into the Grand Prize drawings.

Children and Teens: The first time you finish the reading challenge you’ll get a Cartoon Key Chain! You earn a brag tag with each additional 400 minutes, along with extra entries for the camping bundle and movie packs. How many tags can you collect?

Adults: Finish the reading challenge to get an MPL metal bookmark. Continue to read for extra entries in the Grand Prize drawings.

Minutes can be tracked on our paper logs available at any Mobile Public Library location or print your own (ChildrenTeenAdult). We will start accepting completed logs on June 3. You can also report your minutes by earning badges on our Beanstack reading challenge App!

Little Explorers Book Club (Ages 6-11)

Read & Sign Adaptive Storytime (ASL) at West (Ages 1-12)

3:30 – 4:00 West Regional Library

Join us in the West Regional Library’s Storytime Room for books, songs, and sign language!

Ages 1-12 and all abilities with an adult. Designed to be welcoming for neurodivergent children, this inclusive storytime incorporates movement, music and stories along with American Sign Language (ASL). Activities presented generally fall within a preschool interest level. Siblings and therapists are welcome.

Tuesday

Read & Play Storytime (Ages 0-5)

10:00 – 10:45 Ben May Main Library

Stimulate your baby’s developing senses and help them build listening and memory skills that can help your baby grow up to be a reader. Enjoy meeting other parents and their little ones and making new friends.

Good Listener’s Storytime at Parkway (Ages 0-5, 6-11)

10:00 – 11:30 Parkway Branch Library

Inspiring a passion for reading! Join us for fun with stories, words that rhyme, games and crafts too! This storytime event is designed for ages 3 – 7. Children will have the opportunity to interact with others and practice social skills in a place where everyone is learning!

Tuesday Time Out Storytime (Children, Ages 0-5)

11:00-11:30 Grand Bay

Entertaining storytime designed for preschool-aged children!

Need some time out of the house? Join us in the Meeting Room at the Grand Bay Library for fun stories, song and crafts. This program will ignite creativity, spark curiosity, and stimulate the imagination!

Mrs. Tori Tales (Children Ages 0-12)

3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saraland Public Library

Listen, groove & craft with Mrs. Tori and her tales!

Come and Join Mrs. Tori for stories, crafts, and fun in the Saraland meeting room. This program is ideal for children ages 0 to 12.

Wonderful Wednesday Storytime at Theodore (Ages 0-5)

10:00-10:30 Theodore Oaks Branch

Join us for stories and songs and lots of fun! Storytime’s act as an integral part of early literacy education by introducing young children to books, rhymes, music, and more. This story time event is designed with preschool aged children in mind, but all ages are welcome!

Rock n’ Storytime

It’s story-time with a musical twist.

Experience your favorite stories old and new, come to life with narrator and, guitarist Mr. Dave, and of course, you. Each meeting, we’ll read a story together, and perform one or two sing-alongs as well.
