Why MOB Moms?
What does MOB stand for? To be truthful, it does not just represent one meaning, but several. However, it mainly stands for our origin city of Mobile, Alabama, nicknamed “Mob Town”. It is useful for us that it is also the accurate acronym for mom of boys. For now, that is what we are, but that is not the only acronym it could be, should that status change. Could be moms ongoing battles, mom owned business, moms on a budget, moms on the beach…. you get it.
As you know, motherhood is a sensitive subject these days, but we do not necessarily believe it has to be that way. With social media portraying an impossible view of how the “perfect” mother should be, it is easy to feel discouraged or inadequate. We get it and yet we did not make the same choices. Perhaps it is possible that there really isn’t a right or wrong choice. It feels like there is so much judgement around everything we do and it seems like every mom comes to their platform to post their opinion on virtually all aspects of parenting. The truth is there could never be an instruction manual on how to parent, because every adult and child is different.
Luckily, despite our differences, we had each other for moral support. From breastfed to formula, CIO to co-sleeping, bouncers to baby-wearing, miscarriages to multiples – we have been there. We may have chosen different methods or experienced special occurrences, but we can tell you what is like to be sleep deprived, buried in dirty diapers, covered in snot and drool, embarrassed by mom brain, and left wondering what will actually be the breaking point.
Basically, motherhood is hard and we do not want to make it any more difficult than it has to be. We are here to share our experiences, perspectives, and non-judgmental thoughts about our personal journeys with the hope that others may be a little kinder to their fellow mamas.
On a positive note, children are absolutely worth every bit of difficulty you will endure. We love our little ones with every fiber within us and are grateful for them everyday. If it was not a challenging job, it probably would not be as fulfilling and rewarding.
We trust you as a mother to do your job best. So, this blog is for those of you that may need some extra support, or encouragement, or advice, or maybe just someone to relate to along the way.
